This is a floor or pedestal piece as of nowâ¦.things can change!
The title refers to the drum of a dryer but is also a marching band reference. My older son played the trombone and my younger son played the saxophone. As parents, we were âbando-commandosâ from the 5th grade through the last graduation in 2011. Every marching season required new white gloves in multiple pairs. My younger son had to order his custom as the standard gloves did not even reach his mid palm.
The socks are homeless. I keep them for years, dutifully looking for a mate that has long since disappeared. None of these match even though they may look as if they do, trust me, I tried! The gloves are stuffed with packing peanuts so they can hold the khaki socks. Black and white ones for the striped skirt and old style scout socks make up the rear bodice with a few hiking socks as the front. Two patterned socks have become flowers. When grouped together, socks get very heavy so fishline supports the weight of the skirt.
