Dress #34 napkins
"I will give you a doodle a day dear...I will give you a doodle a day."
-Gossamer
-Thread
-Ribbon
-Lunch napkins â ones that survived my husbandâs daily workweek lunch
-Napkin ring â 2 butterflies from my 2013 Easter table
-Cocktail napkin assortment, representative of ones used over the years
-three napkins found in my old files drawn while bored at a luncheon (large face) and a wedding (green)
I have been packing my husbandâs lunch since he decided to change his eating habits. I thought I was done with making lunches when the boys left home but that lasted 6 months, soâ¦. every morning I make a doodle of something that represents the day in one form or another. Some he saved, some he used. I started collecting the unused ones a few years ago. They have become a sort of diary.
Because I had so many partial napkin sets (plates come in packages of 8, napkins in 12), I kept a couple from each design and finally tossed most of leftovers. The matching cape was created to accommodate all of the doodles so they could still be seen. The dress is made entirely of napkins, no undershirt or supporting fabric is used. I did not care about the neatness of the threads or stitching, it is about the design, not the execution (sorry Mr. Gunn).
