Dress 38 Barbie Doll Clothes
âThe Alpha and the Omega
with perhaps some alter egos in between.â
Dress:
-All the Barbie clothes and accessories found in a yellow bread box with my Barbie Dolls circa 1967 to 1972 fashions
-white felt, white gossamer, thread, beading wire
-fabric scraps from an Angel Auction quilt
-original issue black and white strip Barbie bathing suit
-some handmade outfits for Barbie, (by my Mom)
-2 dresses not Barbie related, but they fit her, located under the arms
-stand of pink marabou from some long ago project
-nametag is my Lakewood Junior Womenâs Club membership card 1992
Hat:
-All the Dawn doll clothes and accessories found in their plastic case circa 1970 to 1973 when they were discontinued by the Topper Company
-fabric scraps from an Angel Auction quilt, thread, beading wire
-white bucket hat from scout summer camp 2010
-2 dresses that do not fit Barbie or Dawn
-1 larger handmade apron style dress on the back of the hat
-2 âLittle Kiddlesâ tunics, another small doll issued in the late 1960s which I collected but cannot find as of yet (probably still at my parentâs house)
This was a last minute addition to the series. As I went through the plastic doll boxes to wash the outfits, I remembered the hours and hours I spent alone creating stories and acting out scenes with my dolls. I loved changing their clothes, mixing outfits and staging fashion shows. I wonder if little girls today spend such quality time building their imaginations. Of course, the rest of the time I was out collecting salamanders in the woods, climbing trees and crossing creeks, only coming home when the street lights came onâ¦..those were the best of timesâ¦..
