All of Ellie's Hankies (round 1)
This garment was created to display the several hundred hankies owned by Eleanor Krew (called Ellie by most people). They were embroidered and trimmed in lace by her mother, Anna Drotloff. This collection is only for the white ones, as an equal number of color trimmed hankies will become another piece in the future. Only a few share the same design of tatting, 95% are unique. The base dress is a beaded gown purchased as a possible Mother of the Groom dress but it came with major damage to the beading with required repair (what do you want for $10?). Because netting would not hold the weight of the hankies, a vintage slip skirt also trimmed in tatted lace made by Anna D, is attached underneath the gown and the buttons that hold the hankies are sewn thru this for support. The necklaces are vintage pieces from my collection.
The cape is made from a table cloth (also by Anna D) which has been pulled up and stitched to make a 1920s silhouette. Additional lacey pieces have been added at the shoulders for weight support. It can be worn long with a train or pulled up and draped over a rear button between the shoulder blades.
The hat was found as is tucked among the many (MANY) pieces stored in bins. It has only been repaired where time or critters took their toll.
