Streetwear Ruffles Swing Coat
This coat was created from several of my original denim garments which I deconstructed and reassembled into this swing coat. The top portions was a crop jacket to which I added an additional set of sleeves and two collars. The cross strap is help hold the weight of the 60 linear yards of ruffles. Yes, that is about 180 feet of denim ruffles that were once on the bottom of a dress which proved impossible to wear, let alone to try and walk in the thing. The weight of the denim is supported by being sewn to felt strips and then the strips are sewn to a nylon under-slip. One inner button and one outer snap along with the waist belt help to support the weight upon the body. I lined it with the same leopard print fabric seen in the back neckline insert. When walking, the coat is swung open and side to side in an exaggerated movement to reveal the contrasting inside.
