Prop-mono Kimono
This piece is made from 4 of the "prop-monos" used for soundproofing at the Kimono Gala of 2009 at the Canton Museum of Art. Each one is 8 feet long by 6 feet wide. Sewn wrong sides together and then again along the side seams, you can see all four patterns. The front panel was split and a zipper added to allow for wearing and walking. The back panel has a small gather to aid in movement. The neck piece is from the 4 units once used to hide staples when the prop-monos were on boards for hanging. The sash is in progress but just for added use of remnant fabric. It is very heavy as each of the 4 original flat garments is on a layer of muslin. Hence there are 8 layers of fabric, 6' x 8' in approximate size.
