We wrap ourselves around you, Angels embrace Ukraine

This 2 piece garment is made in tribute to the beautiful people of Ukraine. The blue top is vintage 80s to which I added a gifted scarf from my inventory. The scarf hangs down the back to feel like wings and allow for zipper access. The skirt is made from over 400 “feathers’” repurposed from a set of 12 foot wings made for the 2019 Angel Auction decor. Each one is 3 layers thick, two of fabric and one of batting. These golden textiles all came from 4 bridesmaid dresses I found at the Goodwill. Each dress had multiple layers, a sequin outer layer, a satin under layer and a gold toned lining layer. The skirt is extremely heavy so a pair of suspenders are used under the top to support the weight on a person or manikin. All the original feathers were used in the skirt except for 8 that were damaged. Those 8 were used on the headpiece made from a kimono fabric remnant, netting and a vintage eagle pin. Of course the color placement honors the Ukrainian flag.
