Seriously Dad, you felt this disconnected?
This vest contains most of the extension cords, power cords, phone cables and electrical wires found in use at my parents’ home when I broke it up in the winter of 2023/24. There are more, but weight proved to be a limiting factor (approximately 43 lbs.) All the power bar strips were in use as well with 5 of them connected to each other and then plugged into one outlet! My dad lost his hearing in his 40’s eventually becoming completely deaf. He had worked for the phone company so connections were his whole life. I imagine he kept trying to reconnect to the hearing world through various communication devices. Color coated copper phone wires are used to wrap the cords which are then attached to deer fencing I found in the shed along with remnant of chair webbing which are used as trims. The estimated linear feet of wiring on this piece alone is 515. There were about dozen or so extension cords I threw away long before working on this garment, ones frayed and worn with outdated plugs. Not included are the extensive number of interior and exterior extension cords that inhabited the surrounding yard and gardens like a den of snakes.
