Dress #28 "We all have our time to shine and reflect."

The all things “bling” bin.

-Sliver sequin panels from the 2013 Angel Auction, used as napkin rings
-assorted gold trims from the 1980s to present
-pink square paned ribbon from Snarky Art studio decor 2012
-earrings and crown pin from 1980’s and some vintage pieces of jewelry
-pieces of leftover marabou, black Christmas ribbon, Warhol sash trim, Warhol dress trim
-corsage pins, silver braided wire, thread, packing tape, duct tape, elastic, pipecleaner
-remnant of metallic gold vinyl tablecloth (also used in Dress #17 Christmas Crafts)
-black sequined skirt from the late 80’s purchased at Horne’s dept store on employee discount
-gold lame woven belt perhaps from the late 1970’s or early 80’s
-blue satin belt purchased from the NC Goodwill store and some old gold rick rack from the 1970’s
-metallic and sequin fabrics from various projects in the 2000’s
-beaded trims from old lampshade projects , late 1990’s
-strand of gold sequins from the mid 1980’s (threw away the package with the date on it)
-leftover gold star stickers from handmade Christmas cards in the mid 1990’s
-gold plastic coins from scout summer camp theme Mutiny on the Mountain 20__
-The flower/corsage at the waist is made from: silver mesh stockings from the disco era of late 1970’s worn at the Big Apple Disco, piece of vintage jewelry, Christmas ribbon and leaf leftovers, beaded leaf from a wedding themed chair donated to Chairedible at some point in time.

-Nametag is two sided and hidden under the gold peplum. One side is my business card circa 1987 and on the other is a photo of me in my red sequin “pageant gown” and some super high ‘80s hair!

As I sorted items into their dress categories, shiny and metallic things kept accumulating. Once I committed to cutting the black sequin skirt realizing I would seriously never wear it again…the design for this creation fell into place. Like all the rest, it will be an ongoing work as I find more and more little scraps of pretty things!
