Daily Doodle Diary Duo #10 and #11 in the series

Having been damaged by weight and time, my original ballgown skirt needed a full conservation redo. Since that piece was created, I have learned so much more about working with the napkins as a textile. Using this new knowledge, I deconstructed the skirt and started all over again using a muslin base and redesigning it from a ballgown silhouette to an A-line design. About 30 or so original napkins had to be replaced with new ones. The original drawstring waist and open back wrap style was reduced from 6 panels to 5, a back was zipper added and a solid waistband put on. A companion jacket based on an original pattern I call a “Judi Jacket” balances the overall look. It is lined with a discarded pillowcase. The second pillowcase became a halter top that wraps with a big bow. The trims come from a black lacy scarf I found at the dumpster goodwill outlet. You can’t see it, but the seams are finished inside on all 3 pieces. What I hoped would be a contemporary or Spanish style look actually has the aura of a turn-of-the-century (1900) gown. The title was to be “A Daily Doodle Diary Duo with a little Flamenco Flair” but that no longer fits. A new title is under consideration.
