Frankly, I can’t remember why I painted this character. The title was originally “exposing ones inner diva” but that sounded so boring until I added the dementia aspect. She had to be old to merit having dementia and also be doing something diva-esque. Consequently, an older lady in lingerie seemed like the best way to go. She needed a logical setting, hence the hospital ward concept. She needed some dementia related mannerism, hence the toilet paper hat and knee highs. And finally, she needed to be interacting with herself to fulfill the exposure aspect. I wanted extra characters for the reaction factor, so the mirror and hallway provided some much needed depth to the environment. It is a cute little painting and probably understood by those whom have elderly loved ones afflicted by this condition.
