Breakfast with Tiffany
40 X 30
2002 / #11
Another scene from the wedding in Florida, this painting depicts a real event. We were taking a morning walk down the main drag with the cafes and sidewalk tables, and happened upon an elderly woman having breakfast with her dog seated across the table. They were having a nice conversation and she appeared so cute. I asked if I could take her photo for which she gladly posed, and we went on our way.
This piece captures the relationship between the two, but not quite the tropical feel of the real deal so as to make it more generic and relatable for anyone. The birds are an integral part of concept representing her âbird-brainedâ state of mind although there were quite a few seagulls hovering about at the time. In the interest of keeping it generic, I used a variety of birds, some easily seen and others not. Rather than having breakfast AT Tiffanyâs, she has breakfast WITH Tiffany, her little dog.
