I hate shopping! Actually, I hate shopping in stores where the clothing is all neatly laid out, displayed and organized as well as available in many sizes. I like to âdumpster diveâ when I shop. Give me a good resale store or the Salvation Army and I am in heaven looking for a designer label or something to mix and match and maybe even alter. The thrill of the hunt is more fun than just looking through racks for an item in my size. The concept of size is a whole other matter!
This piece is about dressing rooms and the fun of trading items back and forth as long as the number on your ticket and the things your bring back out will match up. My mom and I will take in lots of things, some mine, some hers, so we can take in the maximum number, and then switch between rooms. But that would be a boring painting. So instead, I take it a step further and play with the idea of insider trading and making steals and deals as if on Wall Street. I also got to play with a bit of horrendous fashion design. The viewer can find the details which make each character a bit different from the others as well as the bird. Why a bird? Because of the phraseâ¦.âa little bird told meâ¦â which usually precedes a secret or a bit of clandestine news. After all, those sales ladies outside donât have a clue about the insider trading which goes on right behind their backs. Or do they?
