Got Lost Going Green

Got Lost Going Green
30 X 24
2008 / #7
I care about the environment just as much as the next guy, but this “going green” movement is beyond irritating to me. First of all, the color green….what if I am colored blind? This would be discriminatory towards me! What if I don’t want to go? Of course the perpetrators can’t say “being green” because Kermit already did that and it wasn’t easy. But I digress….
This painting expresses my personal point of view about the whole movement as well as recent intrusions upon my civil rights as outlined by the Constitution (the one for OUR country, not the ones that politicians seems to be referencing from other places so we can all be one big happy global family.). Speaking of which, do you really know any family that gets along and is truly happy?
I could espouse upon this for pages but suffice to say, the image contains the following references. Hands off my light bulbs!! I like Tommy’s invention just fine. Hands off my steaks, carbs, fats and preservatives…I will eat what I want to eat thank you very much. I have a right to own a gun and to smoke if I want too. If I want to keep all my money and not give it to “kids without carpets” or whatever do-gooder organization that asks for money, I will do so proudly. You can have my time when I feel it is for the betterment of society as a whole and not a handout so I can have a ribbon, a pin, a balloon or a t-shirt that might as well say “sucker” on it. I will drive a big car and use lots of gas that I drilled from my own country. I will wear fur coats and shoot Bambi because God gave us the knowledge and resources to do so and the cave men did pretty well on that same path. I will worship any God I so choose on any day I wish in any way I please and put up crosses, monuments or symbols that celebrate my beliefs. You can put one up next to mine as well and we can celebrate together even if it is different. Different is good.
Bottom line, I will go in the direction of Freedom and Choice and you all can go Green as much as you want. To me, green is thalo, viridian, teal, permanent, light, hookers or lime. If you don’t know what that means, maybe you need to go a bit deeper into the world of green and realize just what it means to be led down the emerald brick road by those who got lost on the trail to common sense.
